My name is Lily Clements and I am a photographer based in the DFW area. I have graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from the University of North Texas.
Throughout my time at school, I have pursued two long-term projects; capturing live concert performances, and a project focused on women and the way that we exist in the world today. In The Weight of Grace, I explore the deeply ingrained societal expectations placed on women to constantly perform, appear flawless, and embody an ideal of femininity that feels unattainable. From the pressure to be small, quiet, and composed, to the exhausting cycle of self-reinvention through makeup, fashion, and beauty standards, it reflects the tension between the desire for freedom and the guilt of not measuring up. The elusive search for perfection and the painful, never-ending chase to maintain a certain level of attractiveness. This work explores the emotional and psychological toll of this relentless pursuit for perfection, navigating the exhausting and often painful journey of self-definition in a world that constantly demands reinvention. The toll of trying to fit into a mold that feels both suffocating and inescapable, yet intimately familiar.
In both my fine art and concert photography, I specialize in portraiture that invokes a feeling and understanding from deep within. I play with color and movement to tell my story in a way that is captivating and allows for viewers to connect.
